Delta Plan -2100

Riverine Bangladesh is the largest Delta in the world. One-third portion area of this country is low land. Due to our geological location different calamities like- Flood, Famine, Cyclone, River erosion are our regular companions. Besides land erosion is also a common problem.  Every year due to river erosion, about 50-60 thousand people become homeless. Flood causes damage to lives and crops. Due to human destruction, the natural water cycle is getting constrained. As a result, the availability of drinking water is reducing every year. Moreover, global warming and sea-level rise have increased the risk of  Flood and Drought. So no need to say that facing the risk of climate change and preventing the effects of natural calamities has become one of the biggest challenges for the government. Delta Plan -2100 is the longest duration vision plan in the history of Bangladesh.

As Bangladesh is primarily a delta, a long term plan for managing its water and resources is known as Delta Plan-2100. Delta plan will provide guidelines on ensuring pure drinking water in urban areas, wastage management, proper use of chemical fertilizer on agricultural land, etc. The main purpose of this long term plan is to show how to cope with climate change and the identification of risk areas and taking the necessary steps. It will also in river taming and providing sustainable growth by merging agriculture, industrial sector, and environment. The government of Bangladesh in cooperation with the government of the Netherlands aims to create and execute Delta Plan -2100.

The plan will be implemented in three phases.
First Phase (Present-2030): In order to execute the first phase, the government will spend $37 billion by 2030.
Second Phase (2030-2050): After implementing the projects after the first phase the government will go for the second phase.
Third Phase: (2050-2100): After implementing the projects after the first phase the government will go for the third phase.

For implementing the plan A "Delta Fund" will be created. The necessary sources are the Bangladesh Government, Environment and Climate-related fund especially green climate fund besides we will require the money equal to the 2.5% of our GDP.

Delta plan also has spotted six 'hotspots' in our country which are- Coastal areas, Varendra, and Drought prone areas, Haor and flash flood-prone areas, Hill areas, Rives and Estuaries, and Urban areas.

Overall, the purpose of Delta Plan-2100 is to make Bangladesh a prosperous and safe nation. It will also help to solve problems like river erosion, water stagnation, flood problems. If the plan will be implemented properly then the growth of our country will rise up to 10%. Delta Plan is a guideline on how to manage our resources especially water resources and how to tackle natural disasters. So successfully implementation of the Delta Plan will benefit us to progress more.

Sylhet is one of the most beautiful places in Bangladesh. It's a place of natural beauty. Sylhet is widely known for having tea gardens and hills. It is also a holy place as it is known as the place of 360 awlias(saints). Last year I got the opportunity to go to Sylhet. I visited Sylhet with my family. We went there by train. I sat beside the window and enjoy the scenes through the window. I was overwhelmed by the natural scenes. After seven hours long journey, we reached Sylhet. We visited all the places of tourist attractions like- Jaflong which is near the Indian border, Ratargul swamp forest, Lauachara forest, and Tangua Haor. We spent five days in Sylhet. I enjoyed each and every moments of my Sylhet tour.
