Discussion on Budget 2019-2020 (Bangladesh)

The 49th budget of 2019-2020 was declared by our finance minister AHM Mustafa Kamal on 13 June 2019. Like other years, the budget would be implemented from July 2019. The size of the total budget is 5,23,190 Crore Taka. The allotment for Anual Development Plan (ADP) is 2,02,721 Crore taka. The growth of GDP is 8.2%  which is the highest rate till now and the rate of inflation is 5.5%. The highest allotment of the budget is for the public administration sector which is 18.5%. The second-highest allotment is for the education sector which is 15.2%, higher than the previous year. Like other years, Tax-free income for the male population is 2,50,000 Taka and the female population is 3,00,000Taka. One heavily criticism on this budget is imposing a tax rate of 10%instead of 5% on the interest of Government Savings Certificate. It will create a huge loss to the retired, women and many middle-class families who depend on the interest of Government Savings Certificate for their livelihood. Moreover, many facilities are given to the owner of the black money for whitening black money. According to many specialists, it will discourage the regular loan taker and taxpayers of the country. The 49th budget also has good news for the new and small entrepreneurs as it has declared to develop a start-up fund of 100 crores to boost up the new entrepreneurs. Like the previous years, the major allotment is for the public administration sector, but there are some other sectors which need more support and patron from the government like our agricultural sector. The contribution of the agricultural sector in our GDP is declining every year. However many specialists have criticized different parts of the budget but the success will depend on the proper implementation of the budget.

My Visit to Sylhet

Sylhet is one of the most beautiful places in Bangladesh. It's a place of natural beauty. Sylhet is widely known for having tea gardens and hills. It is also a holy place as it is known as the place of 360 awlias(saints). Last year I got the opportunity to go to Sylhet. I visited Sylhet with my family. We went there by train. I sat beside the window and enjoy the scenes through the window. I was overwhelmed by the natural scenes. After seven hours long journey, we reached Sylhet. We visited all the places of tourist attractions like- Jaflong which is near the Indian border, Ratargul swamp forest, Lauachara forest, and Tangua Haor. We spent five days in Sylhet. I enjoyed each and every moments of my Sylhet tour.
