Social Media and rumors in Bangladesh

We can't deny the fact that social media has become an essential part of our life. It fulfills many of our social needs. Social media often reflects how people of a particular society is behaving. Facebook is the most popular social media in Bangladesh. It is very popular in almost all classes of people. Many people now pass most of their leisure time on Facebook. Many also use it as a substitute for newspapers or Television. But the problem is all the news that we see on Facebook is not true. Many people or groups spread fake news using social media. Consciously or unconsciously these fake news also spread from one person to another. That's how rumor is created and spread. These rumors have a lot of devastating effects on our society. Often a specific community purposely spread rumors and hate speeches against a single person or group of other communities which often results in violence or riot. The 2012 Ramu violence against Buddhist is an example of how dangerous rumors on social media can be. Rumors on social media often give birth to mass hysteria. Recently we have seen a severe number of mob lynching. People were killed by the hysteric mob for no reason. A mother of two became the victim of the mob lynching in Dhaka city in the daytime as people suspected her to be a kidnapper.  Many innocent people in different parts of the country became the victim of mob killing without any proof. The situation is really alarming. Many people are believing what they see on social media without any single proof. Many online news portals publish news without any authentic source which plays a strong role in spreading rumors. It is high time we should be aware of it. Spreading rumor is a heinous crime and according to the law of people or group responsible must be served with the punishment of imprisonment. Guidelines of proper regulations regarding social media use are also needed. However, unless people from all classes become conscious this problem can not be solved. Education institutions can play a vital role in this matter. The government has already taken initiatives to solve this problem by spreading awareness through newspapers and Television. it is also our duty to use social media in a proper way.

My Visit to Sylhet

Sylhet is one of the most beautiful places in Bangladesh. It's a place of natural beauty. Sylhet is widely known for having tea gardens and hills. It is also a holy place as it is known as the place of 360 awlias(saints). Last year I got the opportunity to go to Sylhet. I visited Sylhet with my family. We went there by train. I sat beside the window and enjoy the scenes through the window. I was overwhelmed by the natural scenes. After seven hours long journey, we reached Sylhet. We visited all the places of tourist attractions like- Jaflong which is near the Indian border, Ratargul swamp forest, Lauachara forest, and Tangua Haor. We spent five days in Sylhet. I enjoyed each and every moments of my Sylhet tour.

The Person I admire most (Prophet Muhammad PBUH)

The person I admire the most is our Prophet Rasulullah PBUH. I love him more than anyone else and even more than my life. He is the role model of honesty, kindness, truthfulness, and well mannered. Abdullah Bin Abdul Mutalib and Aminah Binti Wahab are his parents. He came from the greatest ethnicity in Mecca, which is Qusay Bin Kilab’s family tree from Prophet Ishmael’s generation. Muhammad (p.u.h) is a prophet sent from Allah to all humankind. He is the last prophet. He was born in Makah in the year 570. He was an orphan. So, he was raised by his uncle Abd Al Motaleb who was from a tribe called Qurays The personality of our prophet is too good that I do not have enough words to describe. He was called Al Amin because of his truthfulness. There is no one who can resemble him. He was popular even among non-Muslims because of his truthfulness, honesty, kindness, politeness, patience, and more. Prophet Muhammad is a great figure in the world, and one of the most influential peo...
